The African National Congress mourns the passing of Isithwalandwe/Seaparankoe Gertrude Ntiti Shope — a fearless revolutionary, tireless organiser, and champion of women’s liberation.

 

Mma Shope served our movement with humility, discipline and unwavering commitment over many decades. Her life is a testament to principled leadership and sacrifice in the cause of freedom. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Shope family and all who walked this journey with her. May her legacy inspire us to remain faithful to the ideals of our struggle.
